51 PFP students among 107 RP recipients of prestigious NYAA Gold Award

More than half of RP's 107 National Youth Achievement Award (NYAA) Gold recipients in 2025 began their journey through the Polytechnic Foundation Programme (PFP), highlighting how PFP nurtures leadership, service and personal growth beyond academics.

When 107 RP students received the NYAA Gold from the President of Singapore, Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam, on 6 October 2025, more than half of them shared a common starting point: the Polytechnic Foundation Programme (PFP).
These 51 PFP students didn't just study; they stepped up. Over at least 18 months, they completed a well-rounded journey across service learning, outdoor appreciation, healthy living and community leadership initiatives, achieving the highest level of the NYAA Programme in the process.
This achievement is no coincidence. PFP is designed to develop every student holistically, and its signature experiences align closely with the values and skills required for the NYAA Gold Award.
PFP equips students with the skills and experiences that underpin the NYAA Gold journey. From the leadership expedition camp and outdoor education to service-learning opportunities, students develop confidence, resilience, empathy and a genuine sense of responsibility towards their community.

"PFP allowed me to grow as a person and lead with confidence. Achieving NYAA Gold reflects how much I've grown through PFP," shares Brenda Lee, a 2025 NYAA Gold recipient.
Another award recipient, Seth Julian, adds, "PFP gives me the time and flexibility to explore my interests and give back to the community, while working towards the NYAA Gold Award."
The NYAA Programme is one of Singapore's most established youth development programmes, encouraging youths to build character, leadership and resilience through service, adventure, skills and healthy living. The NYAA Gold Award is the highest level of recognition in this programme, and for these 51 PFP students, it is a testament to how far they have come since their first day on campus.
