Keynote Speaker

Ms Candace Lim is currently Deputy Director, Human Capital Policy & Development with the Singapore Tourism Board. Her team oversees tourism workforce policies and initiatives to attract talent, strengthen skills, and to build a resilient workforce that can support the sector’s future needs.
With close to fifteen years of experience in tourism, Candace has led major projects such as bringing in large-scale attractions like Therme Singapore, the upcoming wellness attraction on the coast of Marina South. She also played a key role in developing Singapore’s wellness tourism strategy and led two editions of the nationwide Wellness Festival Singapore. Earlier in her career, she supported the sector in navigating through the challenges of COVID‑19 as part of the strategic planning team and launched the Travel Agents Roadmap to support business transformation and technology adoption in the industry.
Candace is passionate about people development, supporting innovation, and finding opportunities to shape the future of tourism.
Competition Details & Guidelines
Prizes
3 x Champions*: $200 e-voucher and trophy
6 x Merit Prizes: $80 e-voucher and trophy
*Top scorer for each problem statement
Requirements
The challenge is designed for the Upper Secondary Category (Sec 3 and above).
Maximum of 4 teams from each secondary school can participate in this challenge.
Teams of 4–5 members will explore the solutions to the specified problem statement.
Teams to complete all the mini modules or workshops at the RP Tourism Discovery Trail at Republic Polytechnic Campus.
Shortlisted teams will advance to the Final Round, where they will present their solutions to a distinguished judging panel from the hospitality and tourism industry and the Singapore Tourism Board. Each team will have 5 minutes to present.
A 1–2 minute Q&A session will follow, allowing judges to engage with teams and explore their ideas further.
Rules and Regulations
Teams should abide by the rules and regulations of the competition.
Republic Polytechnic reserves the right to disqualify an entry if it is incomplete or if there are reasonable grounds to believe that the participant has breached any of these rules.
Republic Polytechnic reserves the right to alter, amend or close the competition as necessary.
The decisions of the competition judges are final, and there is no process of appeal.
In the case of any disputes regarding these rules, or the rules or instructions of the competition, the decision of Republic Polytechnic will be final and binding, and no correspondence will be entertained.
By taking part in the competition, the participants warrant that all information submitted is true, current and complete at the time of submission. It is the participant’s sole responsibility to ensure that the details and e-mail address are accurate, and that Republic Polytechnic is informed of any changes to these. Republic Polytechnic accepts no responsibility for any changes which are not properly notified from the time of submission of the entry to the time of notification that the prize has been awarded.
Republic Polytechnic reserves the right to all photos, videos and any other content generated because of the competition.
All teams will receive confirmation of their entry, directions to the site, and additional instructions for the competition via email.
All schools/institutions/individuals participating in the competition are responsible for completing the necessary indemnity and parental consent forms (for participants below the age of 18 as of the competition date) for each participating team.
Registration will close on 21 September 2026 (Monday).
