The Youth Cyber Exploration Programme 2026 brought together secondary school, ITE and JC students for a 2.5-day cybersecurity bootcamp at RP, where they explored ethical hacking, cryptography and IoT security before competing in a Capture-the-Flag challenge.

Over 60 secondary school, ITE and Junior College students from 21 schools across Singapore gathered at RP from 17 to 19 June for the Youth Cyber Exploration Programme 2026, a cybersecurity bootcamp designed to spark the next generation's interest in a cybersecurity career.
Organised by the five local polytechnics and YouthTech Singapore, with support from the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore, the programme gives students a taste of what it means to think and act like a cybersecurity professional. Over 2.5 days, participants covered topics such as ethical hacking, cryptography, malware basics and securing IoT devices, before putting their skills to the test in a Capture-the-Flag competition.
Behind the scenes, School of Infocomm lecturers and students from the Diploma in Cybersecurity & Digital Forensics (DCDF) made the programme possible. DCDF students stepped up not just as volunteers, but as trainers, sharing their knowledge and guiding younger participants through complex concepts.
"I chose to be a trainer because I enjoy teaching and sharing what I know with others," reflects Year 3 DCDF student Shahrul Gunawan. "To me, this programme was a simple but meaningful way of helping others. The greatest reward was seeing the smiles, confidence, and growth of the students I helped."
The programme underscores RP's commitment to building a stronger and more resilient cybersecurity community, nurturing curious minds and inspiring the next generation of cybersecurity professionals.
