RP’s Vincent Lim, a finalist for the President’s Award for Teachers 2024, brings real-world learning to life while inspiring students to innovate and give back to the community.
Teaching a wide range of subjects, from Green Manufacturing & Planning to Robotic Process Automation (RPA), RP School of Engineering Senior Lecturer Vincent Lim felt a strong calling to return to Singapore after a decade-long career abroad.
I felt the need to give back to the country that nurtured me and contribute to its growth by empowering the next generation. My experience has shown me that education is not just about imparting knowledge, but also about nurturing self-directed and continuous learning.— Mr Vincent Lim Boon Yang, Senior Lecturer, RP School of Engineering, President's Award for Teachers 2024 Finalist

Beyond his dedication to education, Vincent is also a passionate community builder. One of his meaningful contributions was integrating real-world applications into his students’ curriculum through community service. He initiated an RPA hackathon with Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital, which enabled his students to generate solutions for automating the hospital's processes and improving their efficiency in patient care.
"I believe in the power of giving back to the community, and I strive to instil this value in my students. It’s fulfilling to know that my work has empowered many students to enhance their career prospects and experience the joy of contributing to the community." he said.
Vincent is a finalist for this year’s President’s Award for Teachers 2024, which recognises outstanding educators and their role in shaping Singapore’s future. Congratulations to Vincent, and may you continue inspiring the next generation of engineers!
