Republic Polytechnic Showcases Climate-Smart Urban Farming Innovations at WIPO GREEN Global Webinar
Industry Success Stories
11 March 2026
At the WIPO GREEN Technology Showcase 2026, Republic Polytechnic (RP) presented breakthrough AIoT and sustainable agritech solutions to a global audience of over 200 industry leaders. Represented by the AGRI Centre, RP highlighted innovations in intelligent PAR monitoring, high-yield dwarf tomato cultivars, and chemical-free electrolysed water systems. These scalable technologies underscore RP's commitment to climate-resilient urban agriculture and international collaboration in food security.

On 3 March 2026, RP was invited to speak at the WIPO GREEN Technology Showcase Webinar: Climate-Smart Agritech Innovations for Sustainable Solutions Worldwide, organised by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
Held virtually on Zoom from 8:00pm to 9:30pm (Singapore time), the global event attracted over 450 registrations and more than 200 participants worldwide, bringing together innovators, researchers, investors, policymakers and solution seekers committed to advancing sustainable agriculture.
The webinar highlighted breakthrough agritech solutions addressing climate change, water scarcity and global food security. RP was featured alongside international technology providers from China, the Republic of Korea, Japan and the United States. Representing RP, Dr. Ritu Bhalla, Assistant Director of the Agriculture Research and Innovation (AGRI) Centre, presented on “Climate-Smart Technologies for Urban Farming.” Her presentation highlighted three innovative solutions developed at RP:
Intelligent Photosynthetically Active Radiation (PAR) Monitoring and Control System

This AIoT-enabled system uses sensors and intelligent LED controls to dynamically adjust light intensity, spectrum and duration according to plant growth stages. The system optimises photosynthesis, enhances energy efficiency and ensures consistent crop production despite climate variability.
Dwarf Tomato Variety for Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) Farming

This newly bred cultivar features a shorter life cycle, lower plant height, tolerance to low light conditions and higher fruit yield. The variety is well-suited for vertical farms and indoor cultivation systems, supporting year-round premium tomato production.
Smart IoT System with Electrolysed Water for Healthier Plants

This system dynamically modulates water pH levels without chemicals through pulsed electrolysed water technology. Integrated with IoT-enabled sensing and closed-loop control, it enhances germination, promotes plant growth and suppresses algae in hydroponic systems.
By sharing these innovations on a global platform, RP reaffirmed its commitment to advancing sustainable, climate-resilient urban agriculture. The webinar provided valuable opportunities for international visibility, knowledge exchange and potential cross-border collaborations.
As climate challenges continue to reshape global agriculture, RP’s AGRI Centre remains at the forefront of developing practical, scalable solutions that support sustainable food production in urban environments.
