The 6th Shizuoka–Singapore Agri-Food Forum brought together leaders from both nations to explore climate-responsive technologies and sustainable agriculture practices for enhanced food security.

"Singapore and Japan share similar challenges: limited land, high production costs, a shrinking farm workforce, and climate change. These challenges continue to drive us to collaborate and innovate in urban agriculture to ensure food security," shared Mr Boo Chong-Han, Deputy Principal (Academic and Organisational Development) of RP.
RP participated in the 6th Shizuoka–Singapore Agri-Food Forum, held from 1 to 3 December 2025 in Numazu City, Japan. Centred on the theme "Climate Responsive Technologies for Sustainable Agriculture", the forum brought together leaders and innovators from Singapore and Japan to advance climate-resilient food production.
Leading the Singapore delegation, Mr Boo emphasised that "food security is a national priority," guided by Singapore Food Story 2.0 and its four pillars: growing local food through technology, diversifying imports, stockpiling essentials, and building global partnerships.
The Singapore delegation comprised representatives from RP, Temasek Polytechnic, Institute of Technical Education, Singapore Food Agency, local farms, and agritech SMEs including ARIANETECH-Build Your Dream Farm, GKE Agritech, Greenphyto, and KA3 Technology. Over the one-day forum and two days of farm visits, participants exchanged insights and strengthened partnerships across research, education, industry and government.
The programme featured keynote presentations, panel discussions, poster sessions, business sharing, and a ceremonial gift exchange between Mr Boo and Mr Sho Hiraki, Vice Governor of Shizuoka Prefecture. SSAFF6 drew 94 in-person and 91 virtual participants.
The delegation also visited Proximar Seafood, Fuji no Fumoto Farm, Techno Farm Fukuroi, Kobayashi Create, Ooigawa Electric, and Ryutsu Service Fukuroi, gaining first-hand insights into indoor salmon farming, climate-controlled greenhouses, automated plant factories, and innovative mushroom and tea production.
"Together, we can build climate-smart, sustainable agriculture that benefits Singapore, Japan, and the global community," Mr Boo concluded.
