RP receives national honour for volunteerism and community impact

RP has been recognised at the President's Volunteerism & Philanthropy Awards 2025, organised by the National Volunteer and Philanthropy Centre, with the Organisations of Good (Public Institution) award.

The polytechnic is the only public institution and the only polytechnic to receive this national honour. RP Principal & CEO, Jeanne Liew, received the award from President Tharman Shanmugaratnam at the ceremony.

The recognition reflects RP's commitment to embedding community service and social impact into its educational framework. Through the signature Designing Your Life and Designing Your Impact programmes, students are encouraged to discover their values and passions, then channel them outward to create meaningful change. Both programmes are central to RP's Becoming Greater Me paradigm, where intellect meets empathy, and where every student learns to grow not just in skills, but in compassion, resilience and courage.

A shining example is Kaamil Mansoor, an RP School of Applied Science student who turned his journey of overcoming self-doubt into a platform to uplift others. Through Project Resolute under YMCA Youth-for-Causes, he spearheaded a campaign that raised close to $90,000 for Bethesda Care Services' youth programmes and reached 6,000 students, sparking vital conversations on kindness, confidence and mental health.

The award celebrates the entire RP community, including staff who contribute thousands of volunteer hours and students who lead community initiatives both locally and abroad. It affirms the polytechnic's belief that education is not only about preparing for careers but also about nurturing compassionate and courageous graduates ready to make a lasting impact.
