RP recognised as Green Building Leader by the BCA Green Mark 20th Anniversary Awards

RP has been recognised as one of the Green Building Leaders at the recent Singapore Green Building Council Gala Dinner, which marked the 20th anniversary of the Green Mark Building Projects.

The certification was presented by Minister for National Development, Mr Chee Hong Tat, and received on RP's behalf by Mr Ng Tion Huat, Senior Director of Corporate Services, and Mr Laurence Tan, Director of the Office of Estates.

"This recognition affirms RP's long-standing commitment to pushing the boundaries of sustainable campus development," shared Mr Ng. "Over multiple Green Mark certification cycles, our campus has consistently achieved and maintained the highest Green Mark rating, a testament to RP's leadership in green building performance, innovation, and operational excellence."

Key sustainability milestones include significant energy efficiency improvements. In 2021, RP upgraded its chiller systems under the Guaranteed Energy Savings Performance Contracting model, achieving a 35% improvement in energy efficiency. Operating at 0.61 kW/RT, the new system cuts energy use by 3 GWh annually, enough to power over 670 households.

Between 2012 and 2023, RP completed a five-phase lighting retrofit, replacing over 38,000 light fixtures with energy-efficient LED lighting. This results in annual energy savings of 2.85 GWh, equivalent to the electricity usage of over 640 households.

The SGBC recognition affirms RP's ongoing efforts in energy and water conservation, sustainable design, and eco-friendly campus operations, all aligned with national priorities such as the Singapore Green Plan 2030.

This recognition lays a strong foundation for RP's campus rejuvenation plans, reimagining a low-carbon, high-performance learning environment that is resilient, inclusive and future-ready.
