Year 3 student Javier Sim is putting his classroom learning into practice during his internship with OCBC's Credit Risk Management department, where he develops Python scripts and supports strategic forecasting.

For Javier Sim, School of Infocomm (SOI), Year 3 student, his internship at OCBC Bank has been an eye-opening experience into how analytics drives real business decisions.
"Interning at OCBC as a Data Analyst in the Credit Risk Management department has really shown me how analytics can impact business performance," says Javier. "I'm also glad I get to apply what I've learnt in the Diploma in Financial Technology (DFT) to contribute meaningfully to my workplace."
Always fascinated by how data can uncover insights and drive decision-making, Javier found his role at the bank especially rewarding. He supports his team with data analysis, reporting, strategic forecasting, and automating operational processes to improve efficiency.
Highlighting a recent achievement, he shares: "I had the opportunity to develop new scripts in Python. This streamlined data analysis processes and improved code maintainability."
Beyond his core responsibilities, he also helped organise the OCBC Kids@Work event, where he and the team planned and coordinated engaging activities for employees' children.
