Running side by side for a cause

At the Singapore Cancer Society Relay for Life, Republic Polytechnic student Arabella Alturas ran lap after lap alongside someone who has always supported her — her father. Arabella, a student from RP’s School of Applied Science and an alumna of Pei Cai Secondary School, was joined by her father, Christian Alturas, a seasoned marathoner. The two took turns on the track, running together for a cause that affects many lives. “My dad has always shown up for me,” Arabella shared. “Last night, I got to show up with him.” They were part of a team of 19 RP staff and students who kept the baton moving through the evening — pushing through the heat and fatigue, lap after lap. By the end of the event, the team had completed 100 kilometres and raised more than $12,000 in support of cancer-related causes.
