Six students from the Design Your Impact module volunteered at Bethesda CARE Centre's Fame Club day rehabilitation programme, using their curriculum's designated White Space hours to plan activities for persons with mental health conditions.

"Using my White Space hours to volunteer over several Fridays gave me a new perspective on adults with mental health conditions and how they manage their day-to-day routines," says Hayden Lee, a School of Hospitality student who volunteered at Bethesda CARE Centre's Fame Club, a day rehabilitation programme supporting persons with mental health conditions.
Hayden was part of a group of six students from the Design Your Impact module who completed their 15 volunteering hours at the centre, where they helped plan games and activities for the beneficiaries.
Through designated White Spaces in RP's revamped curriculum, students have the freedom to pursue their passion projects or embark on meaningful initiatives in the community.
Another volunteer, Jayden Tan, a current School of Business student, shares that these direct interactions helped students like himself build empathy and compassion, challenge stereotypes, and grow in social awareness. "Because we chose to volunteer here and approached the organisation on our own, we felt more motivated," Jayden explains.
Hayden adds, "I now see mental health and recovery as a normal part of life. We should normalise reintegration into society and allow individuals to move forward at their own pace."
