RP team developed an award-winning prototype web application that provides immersive virtual experiences of the Kampong Gelam precinct and Malay Heritage Centre, integrating 360° street views, 3D models and gamification features.

Staff from RP took part in the National Innovation Challenge hosted on the Infocomm Media Development Authority's Open Innovation Platform by developing a prototype web application, KGlam. The platform aims to provide a virtual experience of the Kampong Gelam precinct and the Malay Heritage Centre to visitors.
The RP team developed the prototype for the National Heritage Board and won the NIC Open Call 2, securing a $50,000 award.
Through the use of a Digital Twin, the prototype web application introduces visitors to an integrated gamification experience where they can explore and immerse themselves in the precinct's heritage and culture. The Digital Twin is a replicated digital model of the precinct that lets visitors navigate the virtual space.
Key features of the prototype include 360° street-view scans, a 3D virtual model, and interactive gamification components. While these features typically function separately on different platforms, the prototype is a proof of concept that they can be consolidated into a single platform that is conveniently accessible to visitors.

The "Kisah Klasik Masa Lampau" Heritage Trail is supplemented with information, photo board, gamification and video playback elements.
The digitalisation of the Kampong Gelam precinct aims to provide ease of access for both local and international visitors to experience the cultural and commercial offerings remotely. The prototype is device agnostic and can be accessed via laptops, desktops, Android devices and iOS devices.
Virtual tours facilitated by this prototype can complement physical site visits as introductory digital packages or marketing tools. The suite of interactive game elements enables and encourages easy transition between the virtual and onsite environment, while providing seamless physical-digital experiences.
The platform also aims to build communities where tour owners, platform owners and business owners can work together to create content and develop incentive programmes for visitors and tourists. Such meaningful collaborations will keep the platform fresh with new content and help the community continue engaging visitors long after they have physically or digitally left the precinct.
