SGSecure x RP Social Media Challenge 2026 – Playing My Role
Events
10 March 2026
What would you do if a crisis happened around you? This challenge invites you to create a short social media video that shows how anyone can step up and play a role in keeping Singapore vigilant, united and resilient.

The Problem
Security agencies have found that terrorism remains a real and persistent threat to Singapore. Global developments, online radicalisation, and self-radicalised individuals mean that an attack can occur with little warning. However, with no terrorist attacks in recent memory, many Singaporeans take our safety and security for granted. Not only do many not think a terrorist attack is likely, but the level of vigilance is also low. In a social experiment conducted in 2025, only 17% noticed a suspicious suitcase and car bomb; of this, less than 6% attempted to report it to the authorities.
Security agencies cannot manage the terror threat alone. Our strongest defence is an alert, prepared, and united community. There is a need to jolt our people – including our young people – from this complacency.
This challenge, jointly organised by the SGSecure Programme Office (SSPO) and Republic Polytechnic (RP), seeks to address this problem. Can you be the change agent that fosters genuine and relatable conversations with your peers and your loved ones, about the threat of terrorism, and how we can all be a better prepared and resilient community?
What is SGSecure?
SGSecure is Singapore’s national movement that seeks to prepare the community for the threat of terrorism by increasing our vigilance, unity and resilience. This involves:
Helping to prevent acts of terrorism by showing the community how to detect and report signs of radicalisation, and suspicious behaviour and items in public places.
Equipping people with emergency preparedness skills to mitigate the effects of terrorist attack, including basic firefighting and first aid.
Fostering and strengthening social cohesion, so terrorist acts do not successfully divide society.
You can learn more about the threat of terrorism to Singapore and the SGSecure movement by:
