Chinese Ensemble

RP Chinese Ensemble is made up of students who share a passion for traditional Chinese music, especially small string groups featuring the guzheng, pipa, yangqin and erhu. Guided by music director Gildon Choo from the Open Score Project, you’ll get the chance to perform at major school events like Open House, Graduation and Reflections Arts Festival. The group has also worked on notable productions such as #Re:Imagine (2019) with Open Score Project, 程 – Our Journey Our Stories (2021) with Plus Trio, 恩 (En) – Beauty in its Simplest (2022), and Euphony (2023) with various local artists. In 2024, members presented Still. I Rise, a pilot music mentorship project with Flame of the Forest, is supported by MCCY. Through these experiences, you’ll develop your musical skills while helping others appreciate the richness of Chinese music and culture.
