Gamelan Naga Kencana (Gamelan Ensemble)

Gamelan Naga Kencana (GNK), which means "golden dragon," is the only Gamelan ensemble among Singapore’s polytechnics. Formed in 2007, GNK is guided by Mr Amran Ahmad Sowyan, a pioneer of Gamelan Asmaradana. As a member, you’ll get the chance to perform at events like RP Open House, Reflections Arts Festival, and Gamelan Circle at the Malay Heritage Centre. GNK has also collaborated with well-known groups such as Nadi Singapura and Singapore Gamelan SingaMurti, and even performed at the Istana in 2017. The group runs exchange programmes and workshops to help more people learn about this traditional art form, while continuing to share the beauty of Gamelan music in the local arts scene.
