Exploring science and innovation in Bangkok
Students from School of Applied Science (SAS) went on an overseas trip to Bangkok, Thailand, where they explored various aspects of science and innovation. Highlights of the trip included a visit to SEA Life Bangkok Ocean World, where they learned about marine biodiversity, the impact of human actions on sea life, and the importance of conservation. At Chulalongkorn University’s Innovation Hub, they were introduced to enzyme and anti-pollution technologies. They also explored the Berlin Pharmaceutical Museum, discovering the history of Western medicine in Thailand. To round off the experience, professors at Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Science shared insights into Biotechnology and Applied Chemistry, giving students a glimpse into future studies and career paths.
Uncovering business excellence in Hong Kong
School of Business (SBZ) students immersed themselves in the lively culture of Hong Kong. Highlights included city tours, industry visits to Dignity Kitchen and Kowloon West Cultural District, an egg tart-making workshop, and exploring the Lee Shau Kee School of Business at Hong Kong Metropolitan University. They also visited the sustainable Nina Tsuen Wan West Hotel and had a magical, educational day at Hong Kong Disneyland.
Navigating Thailand’s aviation industry
Diploma in Aerospace Engineering (DAE) students ventured to Bangkok, exploring Thailand’s aerospace industry, top educational institutions, and cultural landmarks. At King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL), they toured facilities such as the Wind Tunnel, Police Airplane, Airbus 320 Simulator, and STEM Lab. They also explored cutting-edge aviation training facilities at the Civil Aviation Training Centre and gained exclusive access to Thai Airways’ hangar at Suvarnabhumi Airport, where Licensed Aircraft Engineers guided them through a tour of narrow- and wide-body aircraft. At Revima Asia Pacific, students got a closer look at advanced Landing Gear MRO services supporting airlines in the region.
Experiencing Bali through learning and adventure
Students from Diploma in Hotel & Hospitality Management (DHHM)—now known as Diploma in Hotel & Leisure Management (DHLM)—set off on a 5D4N Student Overseas Trip to the stunning island of Bali. Highlights included visiting the Grand Mirage Resort & Thalasso Bali, exploring Bali Tourism Polytechnic, and witnessing the towering Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue. They also experienced Handara Golf & Resort, learned about Balinese culture at Pura Ulun Danu Beratan, and cooked local dishes at Mai Organic Community Farm. The trip wrapped up with a visit to Tanah Lot Temple and Nusa Dua Beach, leaving students with unforgettable memories and insights into Bali's culture and tourism industry.
Learning from Shenzhen's thriving tech scene
School of Infocomm (SOI) students ventured to Shenzhen, China’s tech powerhouse, where they explored the cutting-edge world of innovation. The trip offered an inside look at the city's rapid advancements in IT, hardware manufacturing, and digital solutions through visits to leading tech companies and innovation centres. In addition to the tech-focused experiences, students gained a deeper understanding of Shenzhen’s vibrant culture, combining academic learning with a global perspective. This enriching journey provided valuable insights and networking opportunities, inspiring students for their future in the tech world.
Diving into Shanghai's sports scene
Diploma in Sport & Exercise Science (DSES) students recently embarked on a 7-day trip to Shanghai, China. During the 7-day journey, they explored innovative training techniques and cutting-edge research at institutions like Shanghai University of Sport and sports clubs such as Shanghai Shenhua. The trip was packed with talks, workshops, tours, and hands-on lab sessions, offering students a unique opportunity to witness sports and exercise science in action within China’s thriving sports landscape.
Immersing in the culture and history of Ho Chi Minh City
Students from the Diploma in Design for Games and Gamification (now known as Diploma in Design) travelled to Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, during their Student Overseas Trip. They immersed themselves in the country’s history at the War Remnants Museum and visited iconic cultural landmarks like the Central Post Office and Notre Dame Cathedral of Saigon. The trip also included visits to local studios, further enhancing their learning experience in line with their diploma studies.
