Service-Learning: Making A Difference Together
Service-Learning is a key part of RP’s holistic education. It helps you apply what you learn in the classroom to real community needs, nurturing you to become a socially responsible and impactful contributor to society.

Through Service-Learning, you’ll gain the chance to engage meaningfully with the community, develop empathy, and build life skills that go beyond academics.
All students take G135 Designing Your Impact, a module under the Designing Your Life (DYL) framework. This module provides opportunities for meaningful community engagement.
Beyond the classroom, you can join a variety of Service-Learning projects and school initiatives that address real issues in the community. The curriculum also includes dedicated “white space” days and weeks, giving you time to explore your interests, participate in service projects, and make a tangible difference.
Training and events
RP’s Service-Learning Team equips you with the skills to create meaningful community impact through hands-on training in the Service-Learning pedagogy. These experiential sessions can be tailored to meet the unique needs of different schools, ensuring that you can effectively guide students in serving the community.
Some of the training programmes include:
Service-Learning, A Way of Life
Empathy Opens Your World To Another
Youth Corps Singapore Mission X
Youth Corps Leaders Programme (YCLP)
Community Immersion Experiences
Did you know?
In 2019, RP’s Service-Learning team collaborated with Lingnan University, Hong Kong, to explore how the Service-Learning Outcomes Measurement Scale (S-LOMS) could be applied in Singapore.
The study compared how service-learning shaped students in both countries across eleven developmental areas. Findings showed that Singapore students initially scored higher in seven areas, possibly due to greater prior exposure to community service. However, Hong Kong students saw a bigger leap in development across five areas after their service-learning experience.
