What you will learn
The Diploma in Outdoor Education (DOE) develops people centred professionals for outdoor education, special needs and youth sectors. You will learn essential teaching skills including programme design, instruction, and facilitation. Additionally, you will develop environmental-related skills such as landscape interpretation, environmental studies, and biodiversity; as well as people skills like youth development and outdoor leadership.
Develop interdisciplinary skills in teaching, environment, and people with Singapore’s only diploma in outdoor education, gaining expertise through experiential learning and field trips
Acquire industry certifications in abseiling, climbing, kayaking, orienteering, and risk management, enhancing your skills and employability in outdoor education and adventure sectors
Gain meaningful work experience through a 20-week internship with Boys’ Town, MOE Outdoor Centres, NParks, Outward Bound Taiwan/Vietnam, or a 36-week stint with Outward Bound Singapore
National Certification and Industry Recognition
You will also have the opportunity to obtain the following national certifications:
Singapore National Climbing Standards (SNCS) Level 1 and 2
Singapore National Abseiling Standards (SNAS) Level 1 and 2
Singapore Canoe Federation (SCF) Kayaking Personal Skills 1 Star and 2 Star

To be eligible for selection, students must also have sat for Additional Mathematics / Mathematics.

Minimum Entry Requirements:
Obtain an A-S grade for General Paper (English Medium) or Knowledge & Inquiry, AND
Obtain an A-E grade for H2 Economics or Geography, AND
Obtain an A-E grade for any other H2 subject

Admission to RP is based on academic merit and is subject to available vacancies of our diploma programmes. Meeting the minimum entry requirements does not guarantee that applicants will be offered a placement in the diploma programme. These requirements are set in place to ensure fairness to all applicants.
Applicants who are interested in applying for this course should ensure they have water confidence because the course includes participation in water-based activities.
In line with industry requirements, applicants should ensure that they do not have profound mobility, hearing, and visual impairments, as well as neurodiversity such as autism spectrum disorder. They should not have any chronic health conditions such as asthma, epilepsy, skin disorder, high blood pressure, heart problems and schizophrenia.

Upon completing your studies at RP, you will be prepared to embark on meaningful careers immediately after graduation. Enhance your employability by taking part-time courses or SkillsFuture Work-Study Programmes.
Moreover, every RP diploma is recognised and has a pathway leading to a relevant degree at top local and overseas universities. You may complete your degrees in just over two or three years in a four-year programme.
Skills Deepening
