Co-Development
Work with RP to turn ideas into practical solutions. Through our co-development partnerships, industry partners can work with our researchers and lecturers to develop new technologies, products, and services with strong commercial potential.

Gap Funding
Gap funding supports collaborative projects that bridge the space between research and commercialisation. Projects may qualify when they meet the following conditions:
The project can generate tangible intellectual property (IP) with strong commercialisation potential and a higher level of market readiness.
An industry collaborator partners with RP in the development of the project.
The industry collaborator commits to commercialising the resulting IP.
Benefits for Industry Collaborators
Access to Intellectual Property
Industry collaborators will have the option to acquire a licence to the project’s intellectual property for further development, commercialisation, and market deployment.
Support for Start-ups
Start-ups and spin-offs may benefit from start-up-friendly licensing arrangements and support to help accelerate commercialisation.
Collaboration Process
Our co-development projects follow a structured process to ensure clarity and alignment between RP and industry partners.
1. Define Innovation Needs
Industry collaborators engage RP to discuss the problem statement and define the innovation objectives.
2. Gap Funding Proposal
RP works with the collaborator to prepare a gap funding proposal for internal approval.
3. Research Collaboration Agreement
Once approved, RP and the collaborator formalise the partnership through a Research Collaboration Agreement (RCA).
4. Project Development
RP leads the project development over approximately 12 months, with in-kind support from the collaborator.
5. IP Licensing
Upon project completion, RP and the collaborator discuss commercialisation plans and execute the IP licensing agreement.
6. Commercialisation
The collaborator leads the commercialisation of the product or service, with initial support from RP where needed.
