Settling into polytechnic life takes time. That's why you'll be connected to mentors who will help you transition into RP's educational environment.
We recognise that students learn at different rates and that there are many factors affecting individual achievement. With a personal mentor, you will always have access to a listening ear and a guide to ensure your physical and mental well-being. Mentorship also supports your personal growth and academic journey, offering a safe space to pursue your passions and aspirations.
Comprising one-to-one as well as group discussions, the holistic and personalised pastoral care programme is designed to help you grow and thrive.
Mentor dashboards track your care journey, offering a more systematic overview of your progress. This enables mentors to offer more targeted care by quickly identifying issues, as well as opportunitites for potential growth.
Clar Ey, Lecturer
“Ms Clar Ey’s creativity in her lessons keeps us engaged, making complex topics feel accessible and exciting. When I struggled with time management, she helped me break tasks into manageable steps and checked in regularly. She truly cares about our growth and success, and her positive influence leaves a lasting impact on all her students. Her consistent support has boosted my confidence, reduced my stress, and enhanced my overall well-being, allowing me to grow both personally and professionally.”
Lionel Wong, Lecturer
“Whenever we’re in Mr Lionel Wong’s class, we feel right at home — it’s a safe and comfortable space to learn. Not only that, but he is always willing to help each student learn and understand the material, and he supports his students whenever they are in need. Throughout my PFP year, he has helped me cope mentally with my academics through his vibrant and warm personality.”
Gini Thomas, Lecturer
“From the first day, Ms Gini Thomas created a safe and welcoming environment where I felt comfortable asking questions. Her encouragement during tough times, together with her support, made it easy to seek help whenever I needed it. This supportive relationship not only helped me grow throughout the year but also made her lessons feel like home, as I felt valued and understood during both the good and challenging times my classmates and I shared with her.”
Mae Tan, Senior Lecturer
“Thank you, Ms Mae Tan, for the laughter and the many interesting methods you used to capture our attention and make lessons engaging, as well as for caring about the students’ well-being and always looking out for everyone, going the extra mile and boosting our class’s overall morale. We can truly feel the strong connections you have built.”
