One Heart 2023 is a two-part event that celebrated the magic of intergenerational connections. Held on the vibrant Saturdays of May 13th and 27th, this year's event was a dynamic showcase of the incredible bond between students and seniors, all while having a blast!
Imagine this: on the 13th of May, students took the lead in orchestrating a whirlwind of fun and engaging games. Laughter echoed through the air as stories flowed freely between the generations. Conversations brimming with cheerful energy painted a vivid tapestry of experiences that bridged the gap between young and old. And that's not all! As the sun shone high, the RP String Ensemble serenaded the seniors with classical melodies that set the stage for an unforgettable day.
But the real excitement kicked in when seniors took centre stage to create their own masterpieces. Old t-shirts found new life as tote bags, all in the name of promoting sustainability. With paints in hand and creativity as their guide, the seniors painted unique designs that captured their stories and spirit. Hungry for knowledge, the event journeyed forward with a special nutrition and budgeting session, sparking conversations about healthy living among seniors. The importance of a balanced lifestyle and responsible choices was emphasised, leaving a mark on both the heart and the mind.
As the calendar flipped to the 27th, seniors gathered again for another exciting chapter. This time, students took the lead in an info-packed session on scam prevention. From the tricks of scammers to foolproof tips, seniors were armed with knowledge to navigate the digital world with confidence.
And then came the grand finale – a supermarket adventure to Giant Hypermarket at Tampines. Seniors, armed with insights from the nutrition and budgeting session, strode the aisles with gusto. With students by their side, they embraced the opportunity to make mindful choices for healthier living.
