Annual RP Blood Donation Drive
Despite the pandemic, Pharmaceutica Interest Group (IG) has always supported the National Blood Programme by organising our annual RP Blood Donation Drive.
The event aims to educate staff and students on the importance of blood donation and to raise awareness on the urgent need for more youth blood donors in Singapore.
In 2022, the Blood Donation Drive was a large-scale, on-site event with numerous safe management measures (SMM) in place. Our student leaders worked tirelessly to ensure all SMM were observed. They also actively encouraged the RP community to donate blood via social media and flyer distribution. They also organised a training session with the Red Cross to train all student helpers to address queries and misconceptions of blood donation from potential donors.
Student helpers were recruited to serve as ushers for crowd control and to assist donors with registration. 122 blood bags were collected over the two days and it was truly heartening to see that 64% were first time donors. This was truly a testament of their hard work as well as the community spirit and selflessness of the One RP family!
