What You Will Learn

Intrigued by the science behind everything? Take time to investigate.

There is time to explore a little more before you settle on a specialisation from amongst SAS’s various disciplines. Through the Common Science Programme (CSP), you will gain a broad understanding of science-related topics. You will be equipped with essential knowledge and skills to prepare you for a career in applied science. The CSP, offered in the first semester of the first year, introduces you to a wealth of opportunities in the industry, helping you to discover your interest amongst our diplomas:




In the first semester, you will take the following modules:

From the second semester onwards, students will study the modules that are allocated to a specific diploma from the School of Applied Science.

GCE O-level

Nitec/Higher Nitec

Minimum net GPA Relevant Qualifications
Nitec ≥ 3.5
  • NT39 Chemical Process Technology/ Chemical Process Technology (Biologics)/ Chemical Process Technology (Petrochemicals)/ Chemical Process Technology (Pharmaceuticals)/ Chemical Process Technology (Process Instrumentation)
  • NT58 Applied Food Science
Higher Nitec ≥ 2.0
  • IT58 Biotechnology/Biochemical Technology
  • IT59 Chemical Technology

GCE A-Level

Minimum Entry Requirements
  • Obtain an A-S grade for General Paper (English Medium), AND
  • Obtain an A-E grade for 2 other H2 subjects
