From 13 to 16 June 2023, Republic Polytechnic (RP) conducted a workshop entitled "Sustainable Aquaculture: Effective Fish Cultivation, Operation, Management, and Solutions Co-Creation." The workshop was jointly organised by the Provincial Government of Riau Islands, Indonesia, and Republic Polytechnic International (RPI) as part of RPI’s Food Industry 4.0 and Supply Chain Programme, supported by Temasek Foundation. The event brought together various government agencies from Riau Islands, Indonesia, including the Department of Marine Science and Fishery, Department of Industry and Trade, Department of Education, and Raja Ali Haji Maritime University (UMRAH), amongst others.

The workshop on sustainable aquaculture was facilitated by Ms Marie Tan and Mr Ng Yi Long, lecturers at RP School of Applied Science. The participants appreciated their insightful sharing on sustainable aquaculture which contributed to the success of the workshop.

The workshop conducted by Republic Polytechnic proved to be highly beneficial, offering valuable insights and fostering knowledge exchange in aquaculture technology science and innovation. The participants gained practical knowledge that can be seamlessly integrated with their existing expertise, thereby enhancing their skills in fish cultivation. We look forward to future workshops where cultivators can apply the knowledge and technology shared, and we aspire to foster collaboration between our institution and Republic Polytechnic to advance the field of aquaculture. In this regard, we express our gratitude to Temasek Foundation for their continued support towards aquaculture activities and for strengthening cooperation to establish a robust foundation in scientific development. Such collaborative efforts will enable business to thrive, ensuring the production of high-quality fish on a large scale while upholding food security.
