Nur Izzah Tan, Diploma in Applied Science (Pharmaceutical Sciences) with Merit, School of Applied Science
Izzah's journey to earning her Diploma in Applied Science (Pharmaceutical Sciences) was anything but straightforward — and that is precisely what makes it remarkable. Facing multiple rejections from schools and navigating the demands of young motherhood alongside caregiving responsibilities, she refused to let circumstances define her ceiling. Instead, she channelled every challenge into fuel for her pursuit of knowledge.
The results spoke for themselves. While holding down a full-time job and managing her caregiving duties, Izzah maintained an impressive cGPA of 3.69 with an attendance of over 80% — a feat that reflects not just academic ability, but extraordinary discipline and resolve.
Her learning did not just stay within the classroom. As a clinic assistant, Izzah directly applied her knowledge of pharmaceutical science to enhance medication safety practices and improve the way she communicates with patients — making a tangible difference in the care people received. That same generosity of spirit extended to her classmates, where she consistently stepped up to simplify complex content, share notes, and support peers who missed lessons, ensuring no one is left behind.
