Wong Kwan Ting, Specialist Diploma in Biomedical Technology, School of Applied Science
Driven by a relentless curiosity and the courage to reinvent herself, Kwan Ting exemplifies what it means to be a lifelong learner. At 33, she made the bold decision to pivot from banking to healthcare, independently preparing for the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) while simultaneously completing a Specialist Diploma in Biomedical Technology and gaining hands-on exposure through clinical shadowing.
Her commitment to learning did not stop there. Following the completion of her specialist diploma, Kwan Ting applied for a Master’s Degree in Analytics and Visualisation at the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS), demonstrating an ambition to deepen her expertise and bridge the worlds of healthcare and data.
Beyond the classroom, Kwan Ting actively collaborated with community nurses to develop new, innovative approaches to real healthcare challenges, ensuring that her academic knowledge translates into solutions grounded in real-world needs. This dedication bore fruit when she conceptualised an automated health-monitoring system — an initiative compelling enough to secure funding for prototype development.
