Media Lab

Build your portfolio at the Media Lab. It simulates a real-life media agency to give you a taste of your dream career. Flex your journalistic chops and write and edit for broadcast, online and print in our on-campus newsroom and recording studio. Planning to become the next media guru instead? Don’t worry – the Media Lab is equipped with the latest in multimedia technology to help you create your own engaging public relations or marketing campaign.

Consumer Insights Lab (CI Lab)

Designed to support a wide range of research activities, the world-class Consumer Insights Lab (formerly known as Market Research Lab) offers the following amenities:

  • A state-of-the-art interactive projection system that creates a virtual retail environment for enhanced shopper insights
  • A physiological testing centre with advanced technology including the eye tracker, brain wave and facial expression analysis
  • Two fully equipped focus group rooms (casual and formal setting) for qualitative research projects and assignments

Expect plenty of hands-on training as you collaborate with major industry players like L’Oreal on focus group and physiological research studies to uncover and understand the complex consumer mind.

People eXperience (PX) Lab

People eXperience (PX) Lab

The PX Lab provides a working and industry-standard environment for students to engage as Human Resource (HR) practitioners and career counsellors. It leverages technology to provide a platform for students to observe and better understand the communication methods and skills covered in their HR and career counselling modules. 

LiveLab

Live Lab

The Digital Business and Technology Centre (DBTC) is part of Republic Polytechnic Conexus framework, which focuses on bridging the gap between industry and business technology. Through research and development, testing, and deployment of business as well as organisation transformation solutions, DBTC aims to equip industry players with the skills and capabilities to navigate the digital landscape.

The SMC Live Lab, under the DBTC, acts as a digital playground for solutions. Rigorous testing and user acceptance study will be conducted in a live setting, before the deployment of solutions. .
