More than 40 students from Republic Polytechnic’s (RP) School of Management and Communication (SMC) volunteered to hand out festive goodie bags, worth $50 each, to low income families residing in rental flats at Block 363C Sembawang Crescent and Blocks 512 – 513 Wellington Circle, between 22 January 2021 to 7 February 2021. The initiative is part of the WeCare @ North West Service Weeks project, made possible in collaboration with corporate and grassroot volunteers.

SMC’s volunteers were led by six student leaders from the Diploma in Business (DBIZ) / Diploma in Business and Social Enterprise (DBSE):

  • Germaine Neo Jia Qi, DBSE
  • Low Xiao Wei Willy, DBSE
  • Salini D/O Manimaran, DBSE
  • Samuel Lin Qian, DBIZ
  • Nurin Atiqah Binti Amran, DBIZ
  • Lionel Cheah Kai En, DBIZ

RP has been supporting the North West Community Development Council for this meaningful campaign for five years.

To ensure a smooth distribution of the festive packs, our student leaders coordinated the distribution flow, groupings, and online briefings for their peers. Through their volunteering experience, the students learned about the importance of social responsibility by caring for the underserved community.
