A total of 18 students from Republic Polytechnic (RP) participated in the WeCare @ North West – Service Weeks by North West Community Development Council (CDC) to spread festive cheers among residents, earlier this year.

The three-week campaign took place from 14 January 2022 to 29 January 2022. This is the sixth year RP collaborated with North West CDC for the campaign. School of Management and Communication (SMC) students worked alongside their peers from the Youth Entrepreneurship & Co-op Interest Group, and National Youth Achievement Interest Group. They were also joined by volunteers from Keppel Corporation, a corporate partner for the campaign.

Goodie bags, worth $50 each, were handed out to low income families residing in rental flats within the North West District.

SMC’s volunteers were led by two student leaders from the Diploma in Business: Samuel Lin Qian and Nurin Atiqah Binti Amran.

As student leaders, they coordinated the distribution flow, groupings and conducted online briefing for their peers to ensure a smooth distribution of the festive packs.

Students involved in the event shared positive feedback on their experience and learnt the importance of social responsibility by caring for the underserved community.
