Michelle Lim Founder of The Mindfull Parent Diploma in Integrated Events Management Graduate “Being an RP alumna fills me with immense pride because RP has provided me with countless opportunities to excel beyond academics. RP’s commitment to equipping students with practical experiences prepared me not only for the professional world but also for the challenges that life presents.” Michelle was part of the pioneer batch of students at the Woodlands Campus in 2007. Fresh from the Netherlands and uncertain about her future path after the O-levels, Michelle decided to enrol into the Diploma in Integrated Event Management with the intention of learning and honing her skills in the hospitality and tourism industry. Little did she know that this choice would transform her from an introverted nineteen-year-old to the confident, outspoken individual she is today. Currently, Michelle serves as a preschool enrichment teacher with Speech Academy Asia. She has recently embarked on a new journey and founded The MindFull Parent – a parent coaching consultancy and community. Michelle attributes her accomplishments today to RP, highlighting how the daily presentations, interactions with individuals from diverse backgrounds through CCAs, and projects helped hone her public speaking abilities, analytical skills, and problem-solving expertise.
Mariah Angelika Service Intern at FICO, The Lo & Behold Group Pte Ltd Diploma in Restaurant & Culinary Operations Student During Mariah's internship, she embraced valuable lessons that helped her grow both personally and professionally. One of the lessons she acquired is the art of confidence. Previously, Mariah, an introverted individual, found it challenging to engage customers. However, under FICO team, she successfully transformed into a confident communicator. Mariah now effortlessly interacts with customers, proactively suggesting menu items or entertaining them with friendly conversations. She also honed her leadership skill as an intern. Mariah frequently acted as a guide and mentor to new part-time team members, providing them with insights regarding table assignments as well as their daily responsibilities. There were also instances where Mariah assumed the role of station in-charge, ensuring flawless operations while maintaining constant communication with her team members; guaranteeing a smooth service. While being a leader can be demanding, Mariah believes that teamwork as well effective communication can overcome any challenges and bring about success. Mariah is currently a student in the Diploma in Restaurant & Culinary Operations, and she is thriving in her role as a Service Intern at FICO.
Sage Ng WorldSkills Singapore and WorldSkills ASEAN Silver Medallist Diploma in Restaurant & Culinary Operations Student Sage Ng's passion for cooking arose from watching her mother whip up delicious meals for the family. Now studying at RP School of Hospitality, Sage found herself turning passion into reality when she was invited to compete in the Cooking skill area of WorldSkills Singapore and WorldSkills ASEAN. Despite the pressure, Sage persevered and secured the Silver Medal for both competitions where she represented Team Singapore against the region's most talented youth. "WorldSkills is tough, both physically and mentally, but RP's education strengthened my resilience to face any challenge that will appear in life." After graduating, Sage hopes to continue her studies at the prestigious culinary arts school Le Cordon Bleu.
Belinda Lim Lobby Ambassador, Raffles Hotel Diploma in Hotel & Hospitality Management Student Diploma in Hotel & Hospitality Management (DHHM) student Belinda Lim checked in for a valuable Industry Immersion Programme (IIP) at Raffles Hotel recently. As a Lobby Ambassador, Belinda's role was to ensure that her guests received exceptional experience during their stay. “My IIP at Raffles Hotel was both enriching and fulfilling. I assisted different guests with their requirements. Through this experience, I feel more confident in anticipating the needs of guests and fulfilling their requests to ensure that they have a seamless stay." Belinda has received numerous positive feedback and even handwritten notes thanking her for going above and beyond in ensuring that the hotel guests had an unforgettable stay. On one occasion, she even achieved a full score of 100% from a Leading Quality Assurance auditor for providing a personalised and seamless arrival experience. Well done indeed, Belinda!
