Jonique Tan Artiste Diploma in Sonic Arts Graduate Step into the world of J-pop with RP School of Technology for the Arts alumna Jonique Tan, better known by her stage name AIJOU. She has released two singles to date and has recently dropped her debut EP titled “Loving, Love Dying”. Certain about her passion for music since she was 12, AIJOU was intrigued by RP's Diploma in Sonic Arts for its focus on technical skills relating to audio. Her capabilities have been put to good use since making her debut in 2020, with her refreshing compositions that blend English and Japanese. AIJOU attributes her success as an artiste today to the opportunities she received at RP, with a music production internship at the Music and Drama Company and her involvement as a member of RP’s A Cappella group Rhapsody. “Rhapsody was one of the most impactful moments for me. I got to perform and sing with friends, standing on big stages I wouldn't have imagined myself to be on, such as the Botanic Gardens or the Esplanade. Beyond the spotlight, I learnt about professionalism as a performer, and the importance of teamwork.” A combination of “ai” from “idol” and the first two letters “Jo” from Jonique, AIJOU coincidentally means “love” in Japanese and is the message that she wants to share with the world. Here at RP, we are already loving AIJOU’s music and we strongly believe that her passion for music will take her places!
