What You Will Learn

This is a merged diploma between the Diploma in Design for User Experience and the Diploma in Design for Games and Gamification.

The Diploma in Design (DiD) will provide a thorough foundation in design theories including Design Thinking, user experience design principles, and the use of industry-standard digital tools to produce design works.

In the second year, students are guided to specialise in one of the three majors aligned with their interests and career aspirations:

  • Visual Communication - Use design for creative communication & innovative tech experiences.
  • User Experience - Solve everyday problems with research-driven design concepts.
  • Games & Gamification - Master design skills to integrate gamification in marketing & learning campaigns.

These majors will enable DiD students to design, create, and integrate visual assets, games, products, and environments into user-centric experiences for specific target audiences within industry contexts.

Upon completion of a Diploma in Design, graduates may pursue a wide range of career paths such as Designer, Design Researcher, Visualiser/Storyteller in the Design sector, 2D Artist, 3D Artist, Animator in the Media sector, or UX Designer, UI Designer in the ICT Sectors. Additionally, some students may choose to further their education with a bachelor's degree in Design, UX and Game Design, or a related field for more advanced career opportunities.

As designers, we should view from our users’ perspectives to fully understand their needs. This Diploma has expanded my knowledge in design and I have developed better interpersonal skills through this course. I am thankful to have passionate lecturers who are open and willing to share relevant working experiences with us, which are important for our learning.
