This module introduces students to the tools, techniques, and processes used in crafting engaging environment designs which define and enhance the game design. The emphasis of the module is on hands-on use of relevant level editing tools and techniques fundamental to industry-standard processes. Students undergo exercises and assignments that put the knowledge and competencies acquired in practice to produce effective and enjoyable level designs for both 2D and 3D gameplay experiences. Students will also learn to criticise key parameters of environment and level design as well as the strategies designers use to improve the gameplay.
