Modular Structure
RP’s curriculum follows a modular framework, and students take modules in the following categories: General, Discipline, Major, Elective modules and Industry Orientation Programme.
- General modules focus on developing essential soft skills such as innovative thinking, critical thinking, problem solving and communication. These skills are crucial for academic excellence and for fostering well-rounded individuals. The modules also emphasise the importance of Life Design and aim to instill in students a strong sense of social responsibility and community engagement that goes beyond self-interest.
- Discipline modules focus on developing competencies in a chosen discipline. (For diplomas without Majors, the higher year Discipline modules are designed for in-depth learning and deepening of competencies in the chosen discipline.)
- Major modules are designed for domain-specific in-depth learning and deepening of competencies in the chosen field of study.
- Elective modules are designed to provide the opportunity to broaden their knowledge and skills or to deepen their domain knowledge. These modules offer students the flexibility to tailor their learning experience by selecting modules that align with their individual interests and career aspirations.
The Elective modules, when taken in the appropriate combination, could lead to the award of a Minor, subject to the student meeting the requirements stipulated for the Minor. As another learning pathway, eligible students could take a CET-based Certificate to fulfil the Electives requirement.
- Industry Orientation Programme helps lay the foundation for industry readiness. The modules in this category include:
- Industry Immersion Programme (IIP)
- Entrepreneurial Immersion Programme (EIP)
- Corporate Innovation Immersion Programme (CIIP)
- Project
The above is not applicable for Polytechnic Foundation Programme.
