Facilities and Building Management

This module examines the energy cost in a hotel incurred by heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems (HAVC). Students will look at renewable engineering solutions on how these costs can be effectively managed. It includes designing facilities and systems for food and beverage provisioning, telecommunications systems, and coordinating operations with renovation projects. Topics on Fire Safety and equipment management will be covered in the module.

Facilities and Building Management is a module selected from the Specialist Diploma in Hospitality Business Management. It enables participants to acquire new skills or deepen relevant skills without the need to pursue a full specialist diploma. As this is a stackable course, participants may choose to complete the remaining modules within the validity period, of 2 years, to be awarded the full Specialist Diploma qualification.

Entry Requirement

Applicants should possess one of the following combinations of qualification and work experience:

  • Hospitality-related Diploma from any of the 5 local Polytechnics in Singapore
  • Degree in Business or Hospitality from recognized institutions with at least 2 years of relevant working experience.

Applicants who do not meet the entry requirements may be considered for admission to the course based on evidence of at least 5 years of relevant working experience and/or supporting evidence of competency readiness. 

Suitable applicants who are shortlisted will have to go through an interview and/or entrance test.

Republic Polytechnic reserves the right to shortlist and admit applicants.


Participants will be awarded the Certificate in Facilities and Building Management by Republic Polytechnic upon meeting 50% of the attendance requirement and passing all coursework and assessment.
