First Steps in Programming and IoT using the MicroBit

Take a step into the future! This course will teach you how to code and programme using the MicroBit programme. Embrace Internet of Things (IoT) technology and see how you can connect all manner of devices to each other through the internet to increase your productivity. This course will also cover the basic computer programming concepts required for building simple IoT projects. Learn how you can use the powerful, hand-held, fully programmable minicomputer known as the MicroBit. 

Learning Objectives 

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • understand the features of MicroBit
  • structure a computer program and use variables and programming constructs in their programs
  • use the Microsoft Block Editor and Python Editor as platforms for writing computer programmes
  • build an IoT system using the MicroBit to sense, gather and process data with written programmes and produce relevant outputs

  • understand what IoT and physical computing are
  • know how to apply IoT
  • learn how to use a MicroBit

Certification

Participants will be awarded the Certificate of Attendance by Republic Polytechnic upon meeting 80% of attendance requirement.
