Gamelan Naga Kencana (GNK), meaning "golden dragon," is the only gamelan ensemble among Singapore’s tertiary institutions.

Formed in 2007, GNK has had the privilege of learning under Mr. Amran Ahmad Sowyan, a pioneer member of Gamelan Asmaradana and an experienced instructor.

GNK has performed at key events such as RP’s Open House, Reflections Arts Festival, and Gamelan Circle at the Malay Heritage Centre. They have collaborated with renowned groups like Nadi Singapura, Gamelan Asmaradana, and Singapore Gamelan SingaMurti. A highlight was performing at the Istana for the first official presidential event of Mdm Halimah Yacob in 2017.

Beyond performances, GNK actively engages the community by organising exchange programmes with local and international schools and conducting workshops to promote awareness of Gamelan music.

The ensemble remains committed to sharing the beauty of Gamelan music, fostering cultural appreciation, and contributing meaningfully to Singapore’s vibrant arts scene.
