Through this module, students will gather knowledge on the basics, methodology and applications of plant tissue culture and genetic transformation in science, agriculture and industry. The students will learn about plant reproduction, breeding techniques, polyploidy genetics and transgenic plants. The course will cover theory and practice of plant tissue culture in carrying out genetics modifications, micro propagation of endangered species and commercial varieties of plants. The module will also look into benefits and risks of GMO, Regulatory approvals of GMOs and IP protection in the field of plant biotechnology.
