This module aims to introduce the common biological medicines derived from living systems. The overview of these biological molecules, mechanisms of action and its uses will be covered to enable student to better appreciate how these molecules can be applied in the treatment and management of various diseases. Key technologies in deriving these biological molecules will be covered, including its synthesis, manufacturing and characterization stages. Students will also acquire knowledge on the post-production analysis of these biological molecules in order to demonstrate understanding of these biological molecule properties, such as efficacy and stability.
