Pollution Control and Monitoring introduces students to the conventional methods and up-to-date technologies employed in the sampling, monitoring and control of the major types of pollution. The scope of the module includes air pollution, water pollution, subsurface contamination, noise pollution, and light pollution.
Topics covered include environment-contaminant interactions, transport of pollutants, pollutant containment systems, monitoring systems, and remediation technologies. Students will also explore various techniques employed such as physical, chemical and biological sample analysis, biosensors, real-time monitoring and remote sensing. Environmental laws by regulatory bodies such as the National Environment Agency (NEA) will also be covered.
