This module aims to introduce students to the common analytical instrumentation techniques that are widely used in research, testing and industrial laboratories in chemical, food and pharmaceutical industries. The techniques involve both qualitative and quantitative methods such as chromatography, physical tests, rheology and spectroscopy techniques.
In this module, students will learn about the chemistry principles, applications, advantages and limitations of different analytical instruments. Topics covered in this module include chromatography techniques, rheological analysis, moisture analysis methods, spectroscopic techniques and method validation. Students will also learn how to analyse and interpret results obtained from different analytical techniques.
