This module introduces students to the basic statistical concepts and methods employed in solving engineering problems. The module will help students develop the ability to organise, describe, analyse, and present data. They will learn correlation and regression analysis to study the relationships between continuous variables. Common probability distributions such as Binomial, Poisson, Exponential, Normal, T, F, and Chi-Square are taught in this module. Students will also be introduced to Sampling and Central Limit Theorem and learn how to test statistical hypotheses where the emphasis is on their ability to conduct statistical experiments and make inferences from experimental data.
