Understanding Drama equips students with a critical understanding of the foundational elements in drama, and how each element contributes to a staged performance. The module also provides a broad overview of Western and Asian Theatre in a variety of historical and cultural contexts. Students will examine the range of dramatic forms and conventions that are unique to each historical period. Through research and practical applications like role-playing, students will better distinguish the relationship between text and dramatic theory within various historical and cultural backdrops. Students will also develop a deeper appreciation for dramatic practices through the exposure to local and international theatre productions.
