Design of Multilayer Aeroponic Indoor Farming Module Suitable for Unmanned Operations

Technology Overview

Aeroponics is an advanced agricultural technique that offers several advantages over hydroponics. It promotes faster vegetable growth while conserving resources such as water and fertiliser. Despite the advantages, the adoption of aeroponics in Singapore has been hindered by its high technological requirements and the need for targeted R&D tailored to different vegetable varieties. As a result, the number of aeroponic local farms remain scarce.

RP's Urban Agriculture Centre of Innovation (UACOI), has developed an innovative solution by combining a multi-layer aeroponics system with precise control over nutrition supply and spray frequency to cultivate cherry tomatoes.
