RP team created an award-winning, immersive virtual experience of the Kampong Gelam precinct and the Malay Heritage Centre (MHC) to visitors. The RP team developed the prototype for the National Heritage Board (NHB) and eventually won the NIC Open Call 2, bagging a S$50,000 award.
RP actively collaborates with our industry partners to apply for competitive R&D grants. We have recently received project funding from MOE Translational R&D and Innovation Fund (MOE-TIF), Singapore Food Story (SFS) R&D Grant and Our Healthy Singapore Fund (OHSF).
Project: Mobile Team-care Deprescribing Application The project aims to create a deprescribing application that offers a novel care model for elderly patients residing in nursing homes during their medication reviews. The application is designed to enhance health outcomes and establish a sustainable practice for healthcare professionals’ workflow. Key collaborators are Aeon Analytics and nursing homes. Project: Smart Climbing Robot for Camera Installation & Maintenance on Lamp-posts The objective of this project is to create a climbing robot solution that can assist in installing and maintaining CCTV surveillance cameras mounted on vertical octagonal tapered lamp poles. This project aims to eliminate potential risks of workers falling from heights while performing manual tasks. The primary collaborators for this project are Newcastle University in Singapore (NUiS) and Talonz Technologies Pte Ltd. Project: A Holistic Innovative Approach To Boost Local Fish Production This tripartite collaboration between Nanyang Polytechnic, Republic Polytechnic and Norwegian University of Life Sciences aims to develop a novel feed containing suitable immunostimulants to enhance the immunity of tropical fish. This development also enables the fishes to resist certain pathogen attacks. Additionally, the project intends to develop a rapid response precise fish pathogen detection method so as to formulate practical and feasible solutions to help boost local fish production. Project: Smart Cooling Surface Solution The project aims to formulate and produce stabilised hybrid nanofiller dispersions to be used in the development of an anti-heat coating for the passive cooling of automotive vehicles. This will serve as a platform technology for other applications such as cooling of commercial buildings, data centres, solar panels and greenhouses, as well as electric vehicles and trains. Key collaborators are Evonik (South East Asia) Pte Ltd and Artdeshine Pte Ltd. Project: Cost Effective Durable Antimicrobial Film with Multiple Antimicrobial Surface Strategies The project aims to develop a flexible antimicrobial film with enhanced antimicrobial performance, improved durability and self-cleaning capability. Effective use of the antimicrobial film will help to mitigate surface transmission and potentially air-borne transmission. Key collaborators are Three Summit Ventures Pte Ltd and Tobe Packaging Industries Pte Ltd.
Project: Pre-harvest Treatments for Shelf-life Extension and Nutrient Preservation Post-harvest technology is able to increase the shelf life of vegetables, however several works have shown that the intensive use has reduced the taste and smell of processed products. The project aims to control pre-harvest factors, such as light and bio-stimulants, to minimise post-harvest quality degradation. The proposed solution can be implemented during production and at the end of the production cycle, reducing the need for additional post-harvest processing of leafy vegetables for the benefit of local farmers and consumers. Project: A Multi-trophic-based Tailored Solution for Pest Management in Urban Farmed Crops This project utilises knowledge derived from a study of multi-trophic interactions between local pest communities to develop a solution for pest management. The outcome will be a robust platform that identifies pest and microbial communities associated with vulnerable crops, which can in turn be applied to other crops. This is a collaboration between RP and National University of Singapore (NUS). The project adopts a system-level approach to develop a resilient crop protection strategy that builds on ecological principles. Project: Alternative Culture Media Components for Fish-derived Fat cells Together with A*STAR (Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology) and NTU, we are developing alternative culture media components for cell-based meat. Cell-based meat is future solution for environment-friendly and pathogen-controllable food source. This project aims to develop alternative media components for the differentiation of fish adipocytes.
Project: Sanctuary – Creating a Safe and Supportive Online Space This project addresses the negative impacts of digital spaces on mental health, social relationships and cyberbullying among youth in Singapore. It aims to raise awareness of these issues and promote a safe and supportive online environment through programmes such as short films, concerts, arts and sports festivals, and public health promotion events. This project will establish advocacy channels that leverages social media influencers to promote positive impact. The efficacy of these programmes will be evaluated using AI-based data science techniques.
