Academic Matters

Curriculum Structure

Students generally take six to seven modules in an academic semester. During a semester, there are continuous and final assessments of students’ learning. To meet the requirements to complete PFP, students will need to pass all modules taken in the programme.

Attendance and Leave of Absence (LOA)

Attendance at all scheduled classes and assessments is compulsory. Students who are unable to attend classes or final assessments because of illness covered by a Medical Certificate (MC) or other reasons as acceptable by RP may apply for a Leave of Absence (LOA) within a stipulated period. Students who are absent for prolonged periods should keep the Programme Chair (PFP) informed of their status.

Students must submit an application for LOA within 3 working days from the last day of the absence. Late submissions will NOT be accepted.

Punctuality

Students are expected to be punctual for all lessons and assessments and should make allowances for heavy traffic and other causes of delay to ensure they arrive for their lessons and assessments on time. For final assessments, students who arrive at the assessment venue 15 minutes or more after the assessment start time will be prohibited from taking the assessment.

Academic Integrity

You are reminded to always maintain academic integrity. Students should not submit someone else’s work as their own and should not share assessment answers or assignments with other students. Any student caught infringing any of the Assessment Rules and Regulations in any way is liable for disciplinary action including, but not limited to, an outright failure for the Assessment and downgrading of the Module Grade. More severe penalties can be imposed on a student caught cheating in an Assessment, including suspension or even dismissal from the Polytechnic.

Update of Personal Particulars

Students are required to provide up-to-date information on their personal particulars and those of their next-of-kin (NOK). If you would like to update your particulars, please write to https://for.edu.sg/rpcontactus with the relevant supporting documents.
