Nutrient Analysis for Urban Farming Produce

Urban farming has grown rapidly in recent years, in line with “30 by 30” plan to produce 30 percent of nutritional needs locally and sustainably by 2030. Nutritional analysis is vital to ensure the yield of agriculture has optimal nutrient value.

In this course, you will perform nutrient extraction, standards preparation and samples analysis using sophisticated analytical instruments such as gas chromatography (GC), liquid chromatography (HPLC) and mass spectrometry (GCMS/ LCMSMS).  You will also get to monitor, control and perform data analysis off-site. This is made possible via a cloud-based system of analytical instruments.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Determine the respective nutrients present in fruits and vegetables
  • Understand how nutrient analysis of agriproduct is carried out using state-of-art analytical instruments
  • Extract nutrients from agri product, perform chemical and data analysis via a seamlessly laboratory informatics system
