Strategic HRM in Business

Today's dynamic business environment requires HR to play a greater role in the organisation. This module aims to introduce a big-picture perspective in aligning business strategy with people management.

Students will gain insights on developing compelling HR strategy, with emphasis on sustainability and building resilience. The module also analyses critical partnerships that HR could develop in supporting and leading an organisation's overall strategy.

This module will introduce key topics that cover the strategic role of HR and HR leadership. Students will also learn about key HR operations, business strategy, HR strategy and policy, strategic decision-making, and global strategic Human Resource Management issues.

HR Analytics

The future of the Human Resource Management profession is inextricably linked to understanding data analytics. Students will learn a data-driven approach in making HR decisions to attract, manage and retain employees.  In turn, this will enable businesses to create better work environments and maximise employee productivity, thereby impacting the bottom-line of businesses.

This module will leverage key statistical and financial concepts to analyse HR data, using commonly available tools/technology. Students will learn the systematic dependency of HR functions when analysing the data.

Data Driven Organisational Development

In today’s ever-changing business landscape, data drive effective change. Organisations often face challenges in making sense of the available data. Effective analysis of data helps an organisation understand change and examine the process of organisation development. Data can also help organisations to better appreciate change management for improved effectiveness and staff satisfaction. This module enables the students to understand the change management process and provide insights on how to plan organisation-wide efforts to manage organisational changes.

This module will build on the knowledge change management model and organisational development consulting cycle. Students will learn to interpret data and information to identify suitable intervention programmes, preparing them for the role as a change agent or an organisational development professional for organisational effectiveness in an ever-changing organisation.

HR Digitalisation

Organisations are searching for talent who are able to harness the power of automation as HR embarks on a journey of digitalisation. This module introduces students to emerging business and HR models, ideas and technology. Students will learn how to re-design jobs through the use of enhanced HR solutions, tools and processes.

Students will learn how to prepare for and manage the transition of HR processes to automation. They will also gain hands-on experience on working with technology such as Robotic Process Automation (RPA), designing basic chatbots. The learning scope of the module also cover technical and social challenges of automation within the HR context.

HR Technology

Effective HR requires the use of technology to enable greater efficiency. This includes managing HR cloud services and understanding the applicability of HR apps as well as online data platforms (e.g. AI-related HR solutions). HR also needs to ensure clear visualization of HR analytics to bring workforce data to life to aid in decision making.

Students will be introduced to a suite of HR technology apps, HR cloud services and online data platforms. They will also gain hands-on experience in developing a dashboard and using key visualisation techniques in Tableau and Power BI.

Applied HR Analytics Capstone Project

The module is designed to better prepare students for the HR industry of the future. Students will have the opportunity to work on assigned deliverables with emphasis on the application of key HR analytics and technology concepts in real-world scenarios. The project serves as an important cornerstone in the students’ professional portfolio, which is critical in demonstrating the students’ ability to apply analytics, critical review of processes, and digitalisation.
