Aerospace Composite Repair with usage of Hot Bonder

A modern aircraft consists of a substantial percentage of structures which are made up of composite material. This is why there is an increasing demand for professionals who have the knowledge and skill for aircraft composite repair.

Conducted by experienced instructors, this course will be run in a composite repair workshop, coupled with the use of typical aircraft composite repair tools, equipment, and consumables.

Through this course, you will get to learn about the different types of damages, evaluation and repair in accordance to the aircraft Structural Repair Manual. Participants will also be taught how to use the hot bonder for lay-up with composite pre-preg material, which includes hot bonding programming for repair.

Participants will be assessed based on the end product produced, at the end of the course.

Learning Objectives

This course will equip participants with the basic knowledge of aircraft composite structural repair and the use of a hot bonder. The scope includes:

  • Reference to aircraft Structural Repair Manual, SRM

  • Composite damage evaluation

  • Creation of a hot bonding programme

  • Carrying out repair using a hot bonder

  • Post repair inspection

At the end of the course, participants would also be equipped with hands-on experience related to a typical aircraft composite repair using the hot bonder; enabling them to apply their newly-found skills and knowledge at their own working environment.
