Learning Objectives
At the end of the course, you will be able to:
- Describe cloud migration to public and private clouds
- Perform core system administration tasks such as installation, network configuration, managing storage and security administration on a Linux system
- Use a software configuration management tool such as Puppet to simplify automation
Who should attend?
IT personnel with foundational knowledge in cloud computing who is keen to learn about migration concepts, processes and tools in migrating workloads to public and private clouds and acquire fundamentals of Linux administration and Shell scripting.
This module covers the challenges faced in migrating workloads to private and public clouds. Workload movement includes multiple migration and deployment scenarios and proven methodologies in planning a successful migration. This module also covers the fundamentals of Linux administration and shell scripting. It also includes infrastructure automation built for DevOps.
Cloud Implementation is a module selected from the Specialist Diploma in Cloud Architecting and Management. It enables participants to acquire new skills or deepen relevant skills without the need to pursue a full specialist diploma. As this is a stackable course, participants may choose to complete the remaining modules within the validity period, of 2 years, to be awarded the full Specialist Diploma qualification
Entry Requirements
Applicants should possess a relevant (Information Technology or Computer Science) local polytechnic Diploma, ITE Technical Diploma / Technical Engineer Diploma / Work-Study Technical Diploma or Degree.
Applicants who do not meet the entry requirements may be considered for admission to the course based on evidence of at least five years of relevant working experience or supporting evidence of competency readiness. Suitable applicants who are shortlisted will have to go through an interview and/or entrance test. The polytechnic reserves the right to shortlist and admit applicants.
Conditional Offer
Graduating students (in final semester) from a local polytechnic or Institute of Technical Education (ITE) may apply for the programme.

- The prior qualification/ certification must have been obtained no more than 4 years before the course commencement.
- Applicants who wish to apply for Module Exemption and/or Module Credit & Grade Transfer are to do so after being accepted into the course, but before the course commencement. You can do so at the STEP student portal under the “ Request & Task” menu. All Module Exemption/ Module Credit & Grade Transfer applications are subject to RP’s review and approval.
- Applicants with qualification/certification other than those stated above but have relevant prior learning may also submit Module Exemption/ Module Credit & Grade Transfer applications for RP’s review and approval.
